“While I’m on the subject of television, I want to talk about “Jersey Shore.” I recently viewed about 15 minutes of it by accident and I’d like to share my reaction, which I will summarize right here: The lives that the people on this show are living are so nauseating that I literally had to turn away – had to stop watching – for fear that I would throw up, like the guy on the show who threw up on the couch next to his date (the ‘guidette’ with the ‘pouf’ on her head).
It’s not a sense of superiority or bigotry toward Italian-Americans but rather a kind of extreme pity and sadness that made me gag. The characters on “Jersey Shore” have such an apparently total lack of self-awareness about how pathetic and vulnerable (and depraved) they are that I wonder how they are going to make it in the world.
The poor “Situation” – his freakishly, grotesquely pumped-up cartoon-muscle body cannot hide the so-obvious fact that the guy is a goofy-looking dork who badly needs a strong dose of mommy-love.”
Det er værd at læse hele artiklen, så man også får hendes teori om folk med store og små hoveder på TV med.
